Joshua R. Cook
I have been in the financial advising industry for 24 years. During that time, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of firms and learn how they approach business, from big bank- and credit union-owned firms to small, independent ones. However, no matter where I was, one thing remained at the forefront of my mind: fostering firm independence. I believe that independence is a crucial first step towards centering focus on what I consider most important: the client. I firmly believe that the client should always be at the top of the priority list – not the firm, not a particular investment strategy, not an investment wholesaler, but the client.
Establishing a more independent firm has been on my mind constantly for the past ten years. Then, in the fall of 2023, I founded Cook Financial LLC, a Registered Investment Advisory firm. The firm's primary focus is on preparing & evaluating Financial and Retirement Plans, Managing Assets to accomplish that plan, and overall Advising clients on how to reach their financial goals. I want to keep the firm simple, focused, and flexible to be able to give enough time to each client, keep the firm’s costs reasonable, provide in-depth detailed fiduciary services, and maintain a life balance.
I grew up in the Basin in eastern Utah and I can’t think of any other place to live with my wife and 3 kids. The area provides an opportunity to understand people, family dynamics, individual’s values, various economies & trade, life’s needs, and life’s wants. I love the Basin and enjoy the dispersed life and activities that the area provides.
I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a Finance emphasis from Weber State University. I successfully passed exams for the Series 63 and Series 7 securities license, Series 65 Investment Advisory license, as well as Life and Variable Insurance licenses. In addition to my education and licensing, I’ve had the opportunity to work with and learn from many talented mentors with extensive experience in finance, investing, fixed income, retirement planning, portfolio management, taxes, and estate planning to name a few. My experience spans both the analog and digital economies as well as favorable and unfavorable economic and market conditions. This has made me comfortable with constant economic evolution, conversations around ways in which these factors can affect your financial situation, as well as acquiring large date points with what is beneficial and what is not.
I would love to sit down and understand your financial position and see if I can offer simple, clear, understandable insight and strategies from an independent firm whose focus is on the client first.
